Other Cuisine

Though BBQ holds a special place in my heart, man cannot live on "Q" alone....no matter how hard I try. Below I've listed some of my favorite restaurants (by state) serving up a variety of different foods.

$ = Most meals under $10 per adult
$$ = Most meals $10-20 per adult
$$$ = Most meals more than $20 per adult

Indiana
The Blue Gate Restaurant - (Shipshewana) Authentic Amish country cooking served family style. Fantastic fried chicken and Amish noodles. More than 25 homemade pies daily. $$

Michigan
Bill's Steakhouse - (Bronson) Ultra casual steakhouse featuring gigantic cuts of quality beef. They also have large selection of local Michigan fish and seafood. $$

The Chop House - (Ann Arbor) Certified USDA prime steaks that are wet aged for about a month. Simply put, the best steak I've ever had! Fantastic ambience for a special occasion. Large portions and excellent presentation. You've got to get the flash fried calamari appetizer. $$$$

Mac's Acadian Seafood (Saline) Fresh East coast seafood simply expertly prepared and presented. Upscale, yet casual environment. Perfect place for a date or dinner with friends. $$$

Lil Chef - (Mount Pleasant) 24 hour diner that is a favorite among both locals and college students. Fantastic breakfast menu with generous portions. I have yet to have a better omlette than Lil Chef's sausage omlette topped with gravy. $

The Outpost Grill - (Allen) Charming lodge decor and great sandwiches, salads, and soups. My personal favorites are the Lodge Burger and the Smelly Boot (Reuben). Open for lunch only. $
Pixie - (Mount Pleasant) Classic burger diner with drive thru. It's been a Mount Pleasant staple since 1948. I still find myself craving those burgers. If you're feeling brave, take the mini burger challenge and get a name plate on the wall. See if you can spot mine! $

Ray's Tavern - (Reading) Small town bar with fantastic burgers. Once honored by USA Today for having the best burgers in America. Daily lunch specials - Taco Night on Thursdays and T-Bone Steaks on the weekends. $

North Carolina
Becky's & Mary's Restaurant - (High Point) Southern soul food served cafateria style. The absolute best fried chicken and corn bread I have ever had. The meatloaf isn't bad either. Ask for the Kool Aid pie for a special sweet treat. $

Dish - (Charlotte) Interesting blend of fresh and healthy with traditional Southern cuisine. Everything is fresh and homemade. Mixed bag of patrons makes for interesting people watching. The BBQ Burrito is outstanding. $
Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery - (High Point) Quality grilled steaks and a variety of hand crafted beers on tap. It's a notch above the typical national chains. $$

Lupie's Cafe - (Charlotte) Eclectic dive with awesome burgers and 3 varieties of homemade chili. $

O'so Tavern - (High Point) Upscale tavern with an eclectic selection of steaks, seafood, and pasta. Highly recommended for an adult dinner date. The Drunken Ribeye and Royal Thai Shrimp are outstanding.
